Artist's Description

A small herd of bull bison leave Yellowstone Park every autumn to spend the winter months at lower elevations in the Shoshone National Forest. Although this winter range is more hospitable than the high country of Yellowstone, it is plagued by howling winds which often gust over 70 miles per hour.

Sandy Sisti

I've always loved animals and nature and have been photographing both since I was a little girl in Long Island toting around my Kodak Instamatic. My lifelong love of all things wild and furry led me to relocate from New York to Wyoming to be close to the area's wealth of wildlife. During my first visit to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in 1994, I felt a special connection to the area and was determined to make it my home. I now live outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park in nearby, Wapiti, Wyoming. Since I left my corporate job, I spends most of my days in the company of the wildlife and wild horses that call this area home. Currently, most of my time is devoted to observing and documenting the wild horses of...
