Artist's Description

When I saw these two evenly matched bison bulls begin swinging their heads from side to side, I sensed a battle was imminent. They spent the next three minutes with horns locked, using all their strength to shove the other down a grassy hillside. The bulls began to tire, but neither wanted to admit defeat. Finally, the bull at left turned and ran. The victorious bull gave chase for a few moments, then returned to the hillside with tail raised, looking for another fight. Finding no-one willing to take him on, the frustrated bull ran up and down the hill a few times until he finally disappeared into Hayden Valley, bellowing all the way.

I've always loved animals and nature and have been photographing both since I was a little girl in Long Island toting around my Kodak Instamatic. My lifelong love of all things wild and furry led me to relocate from New York to Wyoming to be close to the area's wealth of wildlife. During my first visit to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in 1994, I felt a special connection to the area and was determined to make it my home. I now live outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park in nearby, Wapiti, Wyoming. Since I left my corporate job, I spends most of my days in the company of the wildlife and wild horses that call this area home.
