Artist's Description

The bighorn sheep rut peaks in the dead of winter but the sheep are not bothered by the intense cold and can withstand temperatures as cold as -40F. Bighorns have a thick, double-layer coat consisting of a dense inner layer covered by a coarse outer layer which traps warm air against the sheep's body, keeping them feeling comfortable in frigid temperatures.

I've always loved animals and nature and have been photographing both since I was a little girl in Long Island toting around my Kodak Instamatic. My lifelong love of all things wild and furry led me to relocate from New York to Wyoming to be close to the area's wealth of wildlife. During my first visit to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in 1994, I felt a special connection to the area and was determined to make it my home. I now live outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park in nearby, Wapiti, Wyoming. Since I left my corporate job, I spends most of my days in the company of the wildlife and wild horses that call this area home.
