Artist's Description

During early fall, I had a lengthy encounter with a bull moose, known to locals as Washakie. In pursuit of cows, Washakie walked stiff-legged through a thick stand of cottonwoods, emitting a series of grunts as breath steamed from his nostrils. He was quite the sight as he emerged from the forest, with the early morning light making the scene seem almost magical. This majestic fellow certainly knows how to make an entrance after all these years!

I've always loved animals and nature and have been photographing both since I was a little girl in Long Island toting around my Kodak Instamatic. My lifelong love of all things wild and furry led me to relocate from New York to Wyoming to be close to the area's wealth of wildlife. During my first visit to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in 1994, I felt a special connection to the area and was determined to make it my home. I now live outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park in nearby, Wapiti, Wyoming. Since I left my corporate job, I spends most of my days in the company of the wildlife and wild horses that call this area home.
