Nearly crippled by a serious injury last year, the band stallion, Washakie, is poised for a fight. Although he is now more than 15 years old, Washakie is still a fierce protector of his band and will stop at nothing to keep them from a rival.

I've always loved animals and nature and have been photographing both since I was a little girl in Long Island toting around my Kodak Instamatic. My lifelong love of all things wild and furry led me to relocate from New York to Wyoming to be close to the area's wealth of wildlife. During my first visit to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in 1994, I felt a special connection to the area and was determined to make it my home. I now live outside the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park in nearby, Wapiti, Wyoming.
